With a little bit two weeks more left for the Eid-Ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religions festivals of the Muslims, Khulna city has been caught by Eid shopping fever with modern and traditional shopping malls bustling with shoppers from all strata.
In Khulna city, thousands of people are purchasing items of their won choice with huge enthusiasm despite spiral of prices of all kinds of clothes that the last year.
Shop owners are selling their commons giving discount and all attractive advertisement Khulna city dwellers are purchasing different type of cloths . They are also buying homemade clothes.
Shop owners told this correspondent that sales were showing an upward trend since the last week.
Khulna New market, Dukbanglow intersection Dukbanglow barobazar, Shahid Suhrawardi market, Jalil tower, safe and save meena Bazar, Daulatpur, and Khalishpur, market are crowded with people. Besides imitation jewelry fair has been going an in hotel Tiger garden.

This correspondent found deployment of law enforcers at different points and market places and engagement of private security man at shopping malls by the authorities concerned have ultimately created a fool-proof security arrangement for business men as well as shoppers.
Moksed Sheikh, owner of Khulna Garments, a grandeur clothes importer said, their selling started after shab-e-barat of course, rainfall obstructs he added. He said adding that They started to collect Eid clothes four months ago. If Chinese clothes did not come prices of clothes would have gone beyond reaches of common people, he added.
Tariqul Islam, Whole seller of cloths of Khulna Barobazar said, varieties of cloths are being sold in our shop. This year ‘Potol Kumar Ganwala’ dress is made for girls both babies and adolescents and also for aged women. Tania Sultana, a college student came to purchase clothes for her brother and sisters said, varieties of clothes have come this year and prices also have been increased. Three pieces are being sold at Khulna new market at Tk. 3000 to Tk. 30,000, She said Middle class people are gathering of footpaths and make shift shops. Some temporary shops were set of cityls Ferryghat, picture palace and ducklabanglow intercetion. Ashraful Alam, owners of chandni shares house at Khulna new market said, the products particularly salwar-kameez for girls, shoes, series with embroidery and stone work, Punjabi and shirts produced by local and fashion houses are attracting the customers.
The traders and salesman at different markets including Khulna New Market, Barobazar, Khalishpur Market,Daulatpur Market shopping malls and makeshift road side stalls had already gained momentum.
But Khulna New market shoe owners association president Abdul Gaffar Biswas claimed that due to political unrest Eid shopping is not going well.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Huge sales are being witnessed here as hundreds of people are crowding in city’s shopping centers every day for purchasing lifestyle items even more than a couple of weeks ahead of Eid-ul- Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims.
Leaders of different trade bodies at bigger shopping malls, markets, complexes and makeshifts markets said Eid shopping has already reached at the peak amid tight security measures taken by law enforcers this year.
“The buyers are thronging the markets to purchase their necessary items much ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr to avoid last moment huge rush despite hot and humid weather this year,” said President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Abul Kashem.
The businesspersons are expressing their happiness for huge selling of Eid items this year. People are crowding in the markets and buying clothes because of increasing incomes and continuous improvement in socio-economic conditions of people, he added.
Meanwhile, the colourfully decorated shopping places have worn festive looks while Men, women, adolescents, boys, students and youths are making rush in the markets for buying Eid items of their own despite higher prices creating huge traffic jams in the city.
“Special traffic systems have been launched in the city along with deployment of adequate members of law enforcement agencies tightening security measures for smooth marketing of the shoppers,” said an official at Police control room.
According to buyers and market sources, price of clothes for babies, children, males and females is about 20 to 30 percent higher this year than that of the previous year, though the increased price can’t beat the sales of the Eid items.
Thousands of people are rushing to the Super Market, ‘Rangan’, Golden Tower, Zila Parishad Biponi Bitan, Shah Amanat Market, Jahaz Company Shopping Complex, Maya Exclusive Fashion House, ‘Karupannya’, City Plaza, Moti Plaza, Honumantola Market, Adi Janata, Bismillah Garments, Madina Garments and other aristocrat markets and shopping malls in the city. Talking to BSS at Super Market today, university students Lucky and Sayera, college students Suborna and Jolly and school students Farhana and Mariyam said price of clothes is much higher this year compared to last year. The business people expressed satisfaction over sales of the Eid clothes, shoes, cosmetics and other lifestyle items and hoped that the sales would continue to increase further in coming days till the night before the Eid-ul- Fitr festivity.
Director of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sabbir Ahmed said Eid shopping has taken a momentum with huge sales in all markets, shopping malls and centres in the city.

The buyers are crowding in the city markets to buy clothes and other necessary life style items for their families. All city markets are seen busy selling their commodities as crowds of customers at the shopping centers start from morning to midnight.
Thousands of people are purchasing items of their own choice with huge enthusiasm despite significant rise in prices of all kinds of clothes than the last year.
Movement of the shoppers has created huge traffic congestion in the major shopping areas. Shop owners told BSS that sales were showing an upward trend since the last couple of days.
Salesmen of different markets, footpaths, makeshift sales centers are passing busy time, they added.
Market sources said the overall sale was much higher this year because of further improvement in the economic condition of people.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Traffic Police sources said movement of thousands of battery-run auto-rickshaws has deteriorated the traffic situation in the city though the situation is so far better.
The RMP traffic department also blocked all intersections in front of all markets and shopping malls to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
“RMP has set up police boxes beside the gates of all busy markets and our police officials are sincerely making people aware about traffic system all the time,” the sources added.
Sekendar Ali, general secretary of RDA Market Businessmen Association, said he had not faced any untoward situation since the first day of Ramadan. “The volume of sale is much higher this year.”
Saidul Islam, owner of Laboni Saree Ghar at Rajshahi New Market, said the products particularly Salwar-Kameez for girls, shoes, sarees with embroidery and stone work, punjabi, and shirts produced by local fashion houses were attracting the customers.
The shopping places become jam-packed to wear festive looks daily since noon. Market sources said prices of the clothes for male, female and children were about 30 to 40 per cent higher than last year.
The Eid shoppers have been rushing mostly to RDA Market, New Market, Sonadighi Silk Market and other markets and shopping malls in the city.
The girls and adolescents are mostly purchasing three pieces of various designs like “Tumili’, “Chhanchhan”, “Ranjona”, and “Anar Koli”. Traders at the big and sophisticated shopping malls expressed happiness over sales and hoped that the selling will further increase.
Musaddique Hossain Bulbul, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) told BSS that the city corporation has so far issued licenses to more than 9,500 battery-run auto-rickshaws.
“RCC is committed to making a clean, green city and that is why, the authorities were issuing licenses for battery-run auto-rickshaws which are environment-friendly and keep the city air free from pollution,” he added.
