Trading in city markets is getting momentum day by day. People of all ages on Friday flocked to shopping malls and makeshift footpath shops to buy new clothes for their kids specially.
Salesmen were busy to deal with customers for sale of products. Contrarily, some customers complained about the high prices.
Roadside sellers were also seen busy to entertain buyers.
Riad Hossain, a salesman of Gausia footpath market, told The New Nation that from second week of Ramzan, customers began to arrive.
Sanjida Akhter, a university student, was seen
choosing ear rings to match her Eid dress from the makeshift shops near the Mouchak market. She complained that price of each and every item increased by Tk 30 to Tk 50.
Men and boys were seen busy to buy Panjabis, T-shirts and formal shirts from different brand shops including Plus Point, Texmart, Ecstasy, Cats Eye and Lubnan.
The young generation also crowded at Aziz Super Market to collect their facourite Panjabis and T-shirts.
Bahalul Ahmed Fahim, Managing Director of BJ POINT told this correspondent that most of the youths come to the Aziz Super Market to collect their Eid dresses at reasonable price.
“The sale boomed from the second week of the Ramzan. We are happy,” Bahalul said.
Meanwhile, posh shopping malls including Basundhara Shopping Complex, Jamuna Future Park, Shoppers World, Karnaphuli Garden City, Chandni Chawk, Farmview Super Market, Polwell Super Market, Eastern Plaza, Eastern Plus, Bailey Road, Twin Towers, Bishal Centres, Rapa Plaza, Mohammadpur Super Market, Amir Complex, Taltola Super Market, Khilgaon and Fortune Shopping Mall witnessed huge rush of shoppers.
Shoppers also thronged fashion houses like Aarong, Anjans, Dorjibari, Westecs, Banglar Mela, Probortana, Sadakalo, Kay Kraft, Basan, Deshal, Deshi Dosh, Cahiti, Infinity, Rang, Nitto Upohar, Nabila, Bibiana, Nipun, Kumudini and Nagordola.
Ferdous Begum, a housemaid of Tejgaon area, came to Farmgate to buy Eid dresses for her family. She said that it was impossible for her to buy dresses for all members of her family because of price hike.
Customers also prefer saris and salwar kamiz named after different popular characters of Hindi serial.
People were seen choosing shoes from different brand shoe shops including Bata and Apex.
Some people were busy to buy jewellery, electronics and home decoration pieces.
