Ahead of 4 days of Eid Festival , Eid markets here in the port city this time bears a unique trend as authorities of the most shopping malls colourfully illuminated for the last week .
Most of the posh shopping malls declared lucky coupon rafle draws on sale coupons . In previous year , illuminations were prohibited due to power crisis but this year govt allowed the shopping malls to illuminate for attracting the cutomers. It is witnessed that in every markets including posh malls erected welcome gate in respect entry point of the malls. Most of the shops in the shopping malls declared discount prices of the eid clothings and shoes , pearls , jewelry items through newspaper advertisement. A diamond jewelry fair is opened in the city at a community centre with discount prices of diamond jewelry of different country origin.
The posh shopping malls of Chittagong viz. New Market, Sanmar Ocean city, Shopping complex, Singapore Market, VIP Tower, Akhtaruzzaman Centre, Gulzer Tower, Syed Subasati Complex, Khulsi shopping Mall, Mimi super market, welly decorated and rush of shoppers witnessed in the evening hours of the day. Other than posh malls, the old existing popular markets like Reazuddin Bazar, Jahur Hawkers Market , Chowkbazar, Terribazar, Chowmuhani Market, EPZ complex , Bahaddarhat Bazar, Baizid market, Bibir hat, Muradpur , Solasahar No.2 Market, Halishahar Bou Bazar also attract huge shoppers than the posh markets due to advantage of less prices of Eid fashion items. Besides, footpath makeshift shops also and floating venders occupied almost all the footpaths of the city mainly in New market area, station road, court road, Jubilee road , Chowmuhani, EPZ area, Halishahasr, solasahar No.2 gate, Muradpur, Oxygen, area from the very beginning of the holy Ramadan.
Low and mid income groups also rushed to the footpath shops than the posh malls. The traditional market of Chittagong Reazuddin Bazar is the market of poor and affluents where every kind of commodities like clothes, sarees, footwear, crockeries, grocies, plastic items, vegetable, fish, meat are easily available with competitive cheap prices . The biggest kitchen market of the city Reazuddin Bazar is located within the area of 2 square kilometer beside the Chittagong Railway station and New market.
Mentionable that Terribazar is the wholesale and retail markets of clothes of shirting, suiting and fashionable sarees . People of different upazilas of chittagong thrown up in Terribazar to choose their choiceable clothes of like sarees of different fashions, three pieces etc. On theother hand , Chittagong Metropolitan Police deployed additional security forces in every posh and kitchen markets, footpaths to avoid an y nuisances by the toll extortionists and the miscreants.
Mentionable that an incident of attack was occurred in Sanmar Ocean city malls on Tuesday centring the demand of toll from the shop owners and the miscreants vandalise a number of shops in fourth floor of the malls.
The traditional New Market which was built 50 years ago now draws less shoppers than the other newly built shopping malls of the city.
Eid marketing randomly remained opened till sehri time every day. No major untoward incident so far happened in any posh shopping malls, sources said.
