An Eid mood is persisting even on the fifth day today since holy Eid-ul-Azha day as thousands of people are still rushing to recreational and tourist spots for pleasure and entertainment allover Rangpur division.
Youths, students, adolescents, children with their parents and common people of all ages wearing colourful dresses and mobile phone sets in hands are visiting the recreational places.
In Rangpur city, thousands of people are thronging Rangpur Zoo, ‘Proyas’ Entertainment Park, Fantasy Zone, Tazhat Zamider’s Palace, Chikley Lake, ‘Surovi Uddyan’ and other recreational spots to get refreshed and enjoy beauty of the nature.
Outside the city and its adjoining areas, people are rushing to ‘Vinnojagat’, ‘Ananda Nagar’, Teesta Road Bridge, Second Teesta Road Bridge, ‘Neelamborer Jalmahal’, Teesta Barrage Canal and many other recreational places for amusement.
In Kurigram and Lalmonirhat, enthusiastic people are thronging the Dharla Bridge, Ramna River Ghat, Sheikh Hasina Dharla Bridge, Tin-Bigha Corridor, Burimari Zero Point, Sheikh Russell Shishu Park and other recreational places.
In Nilphamari and Panchagarh, people are rushing to ‘Neelsagar’, Teesta Barrage Project, ‘Bhitargarh Maharaja Dighee’, ‘Tentulia Dak Banglo’,Mahananda River banks, tea gardens, ‘Kazi and Kazi Tea Estate’, Banglabandha Land Port and other places.
In Dinajpur, people are thronging ‘Ramsagar’, ‘Shopnopuri Artificial Amusement Park’, Hili Land Port, ‘Kantzeu Mandir’, Dinajpur Rajbari’ and ‘Gore Shahid Eidgah Maidan’ and many other entertaining places.
Officials in the district and police administrations said adequate security measures have been taken and recreational places decorated with amusement flavour to attract visitors to the full capacity in all eight districts of Rangpur division.
On Sunday, thousands of youths, students and children with parents wearing colorful dresses were found gathering at recreational spots, temporary fairs and shops set up at most of those places to sell different handcrafts, foods and toys.
Talking to BSS on the Second Teesta Road Bridge at Mohipur Ghat at the juncture of Rangpur and Lalmonirhat, school teacher Azizar Rahman said he came there with family members to see the bridge and enjoy beauty of the nature.
Couple Arman Hossain and Mollika Hossain at Rangpur Zoo in the divisional city said they enjoyed riding on ‘Nagordola’ with their son Abu, 10, and daughter Mohua, 8, and observing various animals and birds there.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed said the number of enthusiastic people visiting recreational places in Rangpur division increases during celebrations of the Bengali New Year, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha and other festivities.
Offices resume after Eid vacation in Rajshahi
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Activities at all the government, semi- government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, resumed today with a low attendance of staff in Rajshahi after the five-day vacation for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha that included a two-day weekend.
Attendance at the City Corporation Bhaban, divisional commissioner’s and deputy commissioner’s offices, Rail Bhaban, Bangladesh Water Development Board, Sericulture Building, Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Headquarters and Roads and Highway building was also thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return.
Officials said this situation would continue for one or two more days. The offices and courts will get their old look back after the next couple of days as many of the officials and staff managed some extra leaves.
However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose off their pending urgent works on the opening day yesterday.
Meanwhile, festive mood is prevailing at most of the offices. Officials and staff were seen exchanging Eid greetings and embracing and hugging each other.
The holiday-seekers, who went to their villages to celebrate the Eid with their relatives, have started to return to their working places.
The city streets still remain free from the usual chaotic snarl-up. Many people especially the teenagers are still celebrating the Eid festival in the city.
They were seen visiting the amusement spots especially the bank of the river Padma with joy and enthusiasm making the spots overcrowded.
