“His writing has youthful charm and rhythm, bears the essence of love. I want to be an appreciative reader of his writing.” On the eve of publication of ‘Ei Mahendrakhone’, the first poetry book by Imran Rahman, these were a few words, prominent poet Al Mahmud wrote.
All the ingredients are present in his writing to evoke genuine poem-hunters the literary pomp of Omar Khayam, Mughal Poet Laureate Mirza Ghalib and Ottoman King Suleiman. The poet seems to have made an artistic effort through wings of word flying daily idea and thoughts of people.
In the last part of the book,’ Darbar-i-Shayesi’ which is meant by such as ghoonguru, shorab, jambati and words related to women can give readers a different taste.
His frequent use of wine and women as symbol is aimed at giving extra connotation to the language. The way the poet used some words related to female attire bears testimony of his command on language.
Virtually the message he wanted to send through chabuk (whip), ‘shilper arek naam’ (another name of art), ‘Shorot’ (autumn) is matchless beauty.
Almost all poems of this book have been published in different national dailies at different times.
Hope the readers will be attracted at the first sight of the cover by Mustafiz Karigar. n
