Egypt will not send any troops for the much-talked-about Saudi-led alliance that has been formed to fight against terrorism despite being a member of the alliance.
Egyptian Ambassador in Dhaka Mahmoud Ezzat said this during his interaction with diplomatic correspondents at their Embassy here on Wednesday. “Our position is very clear. We won’t send any troop or any military equipment. We’ll just share our experiences, ” said Ezzat, also the Dean of Diplomatic Corps here.
He, however, said Bangladesh has taken an ‘appropriate’ and good step by taking part in the 34-country alliance and it might make good use of it.
Responding to a question on diplomatic row between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the diplomat said his country wants peaceful solution to the matter. On IS issues, the diplomat said he does not believe that IS is behind the killings of two foreign nationals in Bangladesh.
He said, IS is busy with the Middle East and there is no reason to see their presence in Bangladesh.
The diplomat also said Egypt will be the first country saying ‘no’ if Pakistan tries to intervene in Bangladesh’s internal affairs.
