The duel between the African and Middle Eastern state saw Egypt in a dazzling form as they dump Oman 5-1 to finish third in the Hockey World League Round-2 held on Sunday at the Moulana Bhasani stadium.
Egypt’s dominance was visible in the very first quarter when Ghabran Houssam and Mamdouh Mahmoud scored apiece in the 11th and 13th minute to give the African nation a comfortable platform.
Bait Jandal Mohammed, the Omani skipper pulled one back for his team in the 21st minute but two consecutive strikes from Amr Ibrahim in the 54th and 59th minutes provide Egypt a four goal cushion goal lead.
It was left to Mamdouh Mahmoud’s(his second goal) to sealed the fate of the match with a fine strike in the very last minute of the match.
However this comfortable victory revives Egypt’s hope of reaching the final round as one of best third positioned teams.
