Efforts to continue for human resource dev in power sector

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said efforts would continue to develop human resource in the power sector in coordination with the developed world.
He made the remarks while discussing a report on existing online human resource in the power sector, prepared recently by KPMG, an international consulting firm on capacity building through video conference from his residence. “Though our target for human resource development was fulfilled in the Mujib Borsho however, it needs to be increased,” Nasrul Hamid said.
He said on-service training is very important in any organization, adding, “What kind of training is required or any qualification according to the type of work. What will be the ratio of technical-non-technical manpower, which will be determined by that institution?” “We have to take decision for long term plan now considering a developed Bangladesh in 2041. Siemens, GE or ABB are working in the power sector, so we can take their cooperation for training,” the state minister said.
The KPMG prepared the report on 14 organisations/companies of the power sector.
Among others, Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, Chairman of BPDB Md Belayet Hossain, BREB Chairman Major General (Retd) Moin Uddin and Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain were present at the virtual meeting.
