‘Efforts on’ to rescue abducted Brac officials in Afghanistan

Top officials of Brac working in Afghanistan held meetings with the governor of Baghlan, provincial police commander and local Sura to find out a way to rescue the two abducted Bangladeshi officials, says Brac.
Baghlan police, meanwhile, arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of two Brac officials, Brac said in a press release on Saturday.
It said that the administration in Afghanistan informed them that they are investigating the incident with top priority.
Jalal Uddin Ahmed, regional director of Brac International Asia region, has already left here for Kabul, the release added claiming that the Brac head office is in constant touch with family members of the victims.
Earlier, two Bangladeshi Brac officials- chief engineer Haji Swakat,50, and chief accountant Md Sirajul Islam Sumon,37, both hailing from Pabna district, were abducted by unidentified miscreants from Kunduz city on Thursday evening.
UNB Pabna correspondent says the family members of the two abducted Brac officials have been passing their days in extreme anxiety since the incident.
Family members of Sirajul Islam Sumon alleged that Brac head office did not communicate with them.
