Princess Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, visiting Rakudia village under Dehergati union of Babuganj upazila of Barisal on Wednesday praised the efforts of village women for changing their standard of livelihood.
During her visit attending a meeting with the local Female Peasants at School Field, Princess Marry exchanged views with the village women.
Then she walked to the houses of female peasants and talked with them to hear the story of their struggle for changing lifestyles overcoming extreme poverty.
Then talking with local journalists the Crown Princess of Denmark praised the hard efforts of village women for achieving self sufficiency by farming on their courtyard and surrounding areas. It would be role model for not only other parts of Bangladesh, but also for the rest part of the world to overcome poverty assuring continues Danish help to Bangladesh, the Crown Princess of Denmark said.
She and her team also visited some projects funded by Danish government.Princess Marry with 37 officials of her country, embassy reached Rakudia by helicopter on Wednesday noon under tight security and secrecy, said Abdus Salam, officer in charge of Babuganj police station. Officials of Barisal district, Babuganj upazila and Dehergati Union Parishad welcomed the Queen at 11:00 am and gave farewell her and the other visitors at about 1:40 PM at Barisal Airport, informed Dipak Kumar Roy, and UNO of Babuganj. Four platoon police of Babuganj and Barisal Airport Police station were deployed in the area to ensure safety and security of the visiting team of Danish Queen, said Anowar Hossain. officer in charge of Barisal Airport police station.
