Speakers at an orientation course have stressed for establishing of an effective value chain system to benefit both producers and consumers by ensuring production of more hygienic milk and its fair price.
They said an effective value chain system by linking producers and traders under one umbrella would minimise interference of the middlemen in marketing of locally produced milk bringing benefits to all concerned.
Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the orientation course on ‘Milk Hygiene Strategy’ for developing ‘Milk Producer Group’ at Madila Sub-centre under Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Sunday.
The course was arranged for providing knowledge on value chain approach to rural milk producers in creating realistic scopes for producing and marketing of more hygienic milk to accelerate their socioeconomic development.
With Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Arbindu Roy in the chair, its Programme Officer Badal Sangma and Value Chain Supervisor Md Rawshan Zamil addressed the orientation course as invited guests.
Twenty-five male and female milk producers of different areas under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur participated in the daylong orientation course.
The speakers stressed for increasing production of more hygienic cow milk adopting modern techniques in milk collection and preservation maintaining complete cleanliness to avoid rotting of milk for containing full nutritional values.
They said an effective value chain system could benefit the consumers, producers as well and traders involved with the whole process of producing and marketing of locally produced hygienic milk.
Due to interference of the middlemen at various stages of business communication process, the producers generally get minimum benefit and consumers spend maximum money in purchasing the locally produced milk, they said.
