The International Public Service Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Sunday in a befitting manner with a theme to transform governance to realise sustainable development goals.
Kishoreganj District Administration organised a discussion meeting on the future in now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda- 2030 at Collectorate Conference Room on Sunday morning with Acting Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdullah in the chair.
It was addressed among others by ADM Md. Zakir Hossain, Additional Police Super Masud Anower, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mujibur Rahman, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Deputy Director of Social Service Md Kamruzzaman Khan, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, its General Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, Prof M A Goni, women leader Bilkis Begum, Assistant Prof Samiul Hoque Mollah, District CAB Secretary Monowar Hossain Rony, Awami League leader Masum Khan and NDC Md. Shariful Islam.
Acting DC Md. Abdullah said that the country had already achieved millennium development goal and was going to achieve sustainable development goal by 2030 along with turning Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021 and development by 2041.
Later, a colourfull rally was brought out marking the International Public Service Day.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: Promoting and ensuring quality public services could be the effective means of attaining peoples’ confidence for the sake of cherished social change. Quality public service delivery is important for establishing good
governance. So, all the service-delivery entities should devise ways and means to provide quality public services for good governance and further socio-economic development.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Noor-Ur-Rahman made this observation while addressing a post-rally discussion at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner here on Sunday as the chief guest.
He called for freeing all the field level public services from corruptions and anomalies for establishing people’s confidence in all tiers of the root-level administrations.
Divisional and District Administrations jointly organised the discussion marking the International Public Service Day-2019.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Divisional Commissioner Anwar Hossain,
Additional Deputy Commissioners Ruhul Amin and Nazrul Islam and Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Dey.
Noor-Ur-Rahman emphasized the need for ensuring good governance everywhere in the service delivery activities.
He said the present government is committed to build a transparent,accountable, people-oriented, knowledge-based and dynamic public administration.
He urged all concerned to change their all negative mindsets and work together to supplement the government endeavor.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner inaugurated observance of the day by releasing balloon followed by leading a rally on the streets with participation of officials, employees, civil society members, political leaders and local elite.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Fauzul Kabir, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abdullah Faruk, Additional Police Super Saifur Rahman and Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Abdul Matin addressed.
The speakers said public servants should acquire adequate knowledge on the digitised information and communication technologies (ICT) to make government services easily available to people without proximity.
The chief guest urged officials to utilise innovative ideas and innovations in reaching services to people for accelerating development to achieve the SDGs timely on way to build a developed digital Bangladesh by 2041.
“Government officials should devote them to deliver services to people with sincerity, dedication and accountability using ICT facilities as effective tools to ensure transparency during their service life.
