Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said the government took effective measures to locate and bring back the convicted fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for execution of the court verdict.
A taskforce was formed by the government on March 28, 2010 headed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haq to bring back the convicted fugitive killers, he said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Mrs Amina Ahmed in the Jatiya Sangsad.
“The government has undertaken necessary steps to send information along with photograph to different airports through Interpol to identify and location of fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for execution of the court verdict,” Khan added.
He said the government confiscated 16.9425 acres of land owned by Col (retd) Khandker Abdur Rashid and 1.15 acres of land owned by Rashed Chowdhury and included it in the khas khatian.
Besides, law firms have already been engaged by the government in the United States of America (USA) and Canada for bringing back home the fugitive convicted killers Maj (retd) Abu Mohammad Rashed Chowdhury from USA and Noor Chowdhury from Canada, the minister said.
He also said that red alert has been issued to locate and arrest the convicted fugitive killers by the Interpol, while the government requested countries concerned not to grant citizenship applications by the convicted killers.
