Educationist Prof. Hamid passes away

Eminent educationist and former Professor of Rajshahi University Abdul Hamid breathed his last at his Binodpur residence in Rajshahi early on Thursday morning at the age of around 77.
He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and large number of students, academic colleagues and host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
During his long academic career in the Department of Philosophy from 1964 to 2009, Prof Hamid supervised 10 post doctorates , four M. Phil and more than 100 post-graduation research papers.
Besides, he has a remarkable number of research papers and books at home and abroad to his credit.
Born in Lebubunia village in Mirzaganj Upazila of Patuakhali district in 1943, Prof Abdul Hamid obtained B.A and M.A degrees from Dhaka University in 1964 and 1965 respectively and got PhD degree from Punjab University in India in 1982.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at RU central Jam-e Mosque after Johr prayers and he was laid to eternal rest at RU graveyard .
They also prayed for his eternal peace of the departed soul.
