Education rights for disabled children stressed

Speakers at a function here yesterday stressed the need for ensuring the rights of education and other existing facilities of the state for the children with disability to enable them to live a decent life.
“Right to information for the children with disability should have to be ensured as they are the inseparable part of the society and deserve to enjoy all basic rights like other privileged sections in the country”, they said.
They made the remarks while addressing a function of people’s dialogue on ensuring education rights of the children with disability jointly organized by Shwabolambee Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) and Gana Shakkhara Avijan (GSA) on the premises of USS at Putimari area under Shaghata upazila on Saturday.
Deputy speaker of the Bangladesh parliament and local lawmaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy commissioner Ehsan-e-Elahi was present as the special guest.
With upazila parishad chairman AHM Golam Shahid Ranzu in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by UNO Abdul Awal, executive director of CCD AHM Noman Khan, programme manager of GSA Mostafizur Rahman and executive director of USS Shahadat Hossain Mondal.
Deputy speaker Advocate Rabbi in his speeches gave emphasis on ensuring all rights including education and friendly atmosphere for the children with disability through united and joint efforts of all and changing our attitude to them.
He also said the children with disability must be given equal opportunity in academic education like the privileged ones so that they could grow as worthy citizens and contribute their best for the country’s development in various fields.
An initiative has been taken by the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to distribute brail books for the children with disability on January 01 like other children of the country, he added.
