Speakers at a discussion said the education and researches in the highest seat of learning should be practical and pro-people for benefiting the general public.They mentioned that all the education and search and findings of those should be linked to the entrepreneurs for successful marketing of the products together with making those familiarized and accessible to the consumers in general.
They were addressing the inaugural session of a two-day workshop styled “Teaching Methodology of Institute of Education and Research (IER)” held at the seminar hall Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Building of Rajshahi University yesterday.
IER organized the workshop in association with Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project of Bangladesh University Grants Commission. Vice-chancellor Prof Mijanuddin and Director of Institute of Business Administration Prof Obhinoy Chandra Shaha addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Prof Golam Kabir, Director of IER, in the chair.
Referring to the adverse impact of climate change, Prof Mijanuddin called upon the researchers to innovate adaptive measures through in-depth research to coup with the unpleasant situation.
Besides, he referred to the government’s commitment to build knowledge, science and technology-based society and asked them to supplement the endeavor through their wholehearted efforts.
“You should be practical and your research outputs must be people-oriented,” Prof Mijan reminded the researchers adding that carrying out valueless research by spending huge public money must be stopped. He put emphasis on exploring the potentiality of the region so that it could be flourished properly for its economic emancipation. Besides, he stressed improving the quality of higher education as well as bolstering the knowledge of information and communication technology among the country’s young generation to remain competitive at the global stage.
Mentioning that there was an inextricable link between education and research, RU VC said new knowledge has been created through research works which play an important role in fulfilling the existing demand of society.
