Chittagong city Corporation is running a numbers of educational institutions including College, high school, primary school, kindergarten, Forkania madrasa, night school, Elderly education school, Theater institute, computer institute, Computer college, Teachers Training Institute and Sangskriti Toll centre in the city . To run these educational institutions , there was no regulations, policy since long.
With a view of the concept of national education policy-2017 of the governmentt aimed at fulfilling the vision and mission of government, Chittagong City Corporation has formulated a education policy in the meantime. This was declared at a hugely attended press conference held at CCC auditorium yesterday afternoon . The press meet was told that following the announcement of the national education policy by government, CCC constituted a high power Education committee to bring the schools and institutions under a common policy with transparent and accountable .
The committee headed by Inspector of Chittagong Education Board Sumon Barua as Convener, Chief Education Officer of CCC and ex-officio Deputy Secretary of GOB Mrs. Nazia Shirin as Member secretary, School Inspector of CEB and councilor Nazmul Hoque Duke, Principal of Bijoy Sharani college Md. Jahangir and Liason officer of Chittagong District Education Office S. Mostafa Alam Sarkar as members of the committee.
City Mayor disclosed before the press meet that after relentless efforts of the committee members for about six months, a draft education policy consists of 114 pages has been formulated by the committee.
The new formulated education policy was discussed in the standing committee of Education and extended general meeting of the corporation and after thorough scrutiny and examine , this education policy was placed before the press meet. City Mayor depicted his mission ,vision and work plan for improvement of the qualitative education in the corporation run institutions and presented the formulated draft education policy .A large number of journalists from print, electronic and online medias were present in the press meet, a CCC release said. The first ever newly formulated education policy will come into force from 1st July,2017, sources added.
