Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique has been honoured with “World Teachers’ Day Award” for his outstanding contribution to develop education and research in the country. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP handed over this award to the Vice-Chancellor as chief guest at a function held on Monday at TSC Auditorium of the University. World Teachers’ Day-2015 National Observance Committee organized the event to mark the day.
Chief Coordinator of National Front of Teachers and Employees (NFTE) Prof Quazi Faruque Ahmed presided over the function while Vice-President of Global Campaign for Education (GCE) Rasheda K Chowdhury and Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO, Dhaka Kiichi Oyasu addressed it as special guests.
It may be mentioned that 7 other eminent educationists of the country have also received World Teachers’ Day Award this year.
