Md Badiuzzaman, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said that the country’s most corrupt sectors are the education and the health ministries.
“The Health and Education Ministries are the most corrupt. The degree of corruption in these two ministries is so much so that it cannot be expressed in words. The educated persons work here, but they do not care for laws”.
“They often slip after committing corruption; they will have to be caught tight hand”, he said this at a view-exchange meeting in the Begum Rokeya Auditorium in Rangpur district on Tuesday. The district administration and the ACC office arranged the function.
The representatives of the Rangpur District Corruption Prevention Committee, Community Policing Forum and Civil Society took part in the meeting.
Regarding lengthy process of the cases filed by ACC, the chairman said, many cases remain pending for a long due to lack of documents with legal limitation.
For quick disposal of the pending cases, our Law Ministry is working to remove limitation in the ACC law.
Responding to a question, he said that some secretaries by managing freedom fighter certificates acted against morality and ethics. Many of them have already resigned out of shame.
To another question, Badiuzzaman said, “We do not find our country’s eminent lawyers for legal fight against corruption by big guns like Hall-Mark. Because we cannot pay their demanded money. That is why, the accused get chance to hire them”.
