The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. In 1950, the United Nations declared this day as World Human Rights Day. Since then the day has been celebrated all over the worldFather of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has always fought for the establishment of a just and egalitarian society. Our constitution is fully in line with the universal human rights declared by the United Nations. Human rights is a well-established issue in Islam. The issue of human rights is equal everywhere in the eyes of Islam. Islam has established mankind in the seat of glory, excellence and dignity. Islam binds people to equal rights, unity, brotherhood and friendship. In Islam, clan warns of dignity, class division, caste division and caste discrimination. Taught to treat slaves and subordinates nicely and fairly.
Man is the best creature of human creation. As human beings, everyone deserves equal dignity and respect. Fundamental rights are equal for all. The right to food, clothing, shelter, education, medical treatment is equal for all. Individual freedom is equal for all. In terms of dignity, the rich and the poor are all equal in Islam. Personal, family, cultural, economic, social and political rights are also one for all. The right to security of life and property is the same. Freedom of expression means freedom of speech which is the same for everyone. The commandment of good deeds and the prohibition of evil deeds play an important role in human rights in Islam. Throughout the ages, various great men have expressed their hope for the liberation of humanity and for ensuring human rights. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the founder of Islam, appeared in the seventh century with a new idea of human dignity.
He preached that man is the representative of God on earth and that man has been created in the best form. Islam does not attach importance to caste, tribe, language, property or any other status. This is an integrated concept. Wrote a special column on today’s topic, the prominent writer of Bangladesh. MM Mazed writes in his column …A review from a historical point of view shows that Islam was the first to explicitly define the basic human rights. Fundamental rights are called human rights. In Islam, human rights refer to those rights which Allah Ta’ala Himself has bestowed on His servants. No one in the world has the right to repeal it. This right will never be revoked. In the early days of Islam, in the Medina-based society, Muslim citizens enjoyed all the social, spiritual, economic and political rights.
In Islam, personal rights include security of life, women’s rights, not to kill, not to gossip, to show forgiveness, morality, political rights, workers’ rights, personal rights and many more. Social rights include the right to life, individual liberty, property rights, the right to equality, the right to contract, the right to write, speak and preach. The Holy Qur’an states: (Surah At-Tin-03)It has also been said: You have been chosen as the greatest nation for the welfare of mankind. (Surat al-Imran: 110)
The concept of equality between people is found in another verse. It is said in the Holy Qur’an: O mankind! I have created you from a male and a female. (Surah Hujrat-13) Islam’s message of peace is not limited to one’s own religion. On the contrary, tolerance and sympathy towards paramatman and other religions is very important. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) emphasized the importance of harmony and unity among people of different communities. Freedom and rights of other religions are important elements in the concept of Ummah. This can be understood by looking at the agreements made during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The ‘Medina Charter’ of 624 AH is famous for the recognition of human rights. There were 47 sections in this charter. One of the sections is-
* The Jewish, Christian, pagan and Muslim communities signing the Medina Charter will enjoy equal civil rights and will form a nation. * Full religious freedom will be maintained. People of Muslim and non-Muslim communities will be able to practice their religion without any hesitation. No one can interfere in anyone’s religion. * Bloodshed, murder, adultery and other criminal activities are strictly prohibited. * The weak and helpless must be helped and protected in every possible way. * Allies of the Jews will enjoy equal security and freedom* Hilful Fuzul, consisting of Hazrat Abbas (ra) and others before the renaissance, was a recognition of the freedom and right to life of the people in the racist Arab world.* The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in his Farewell Hajj speech said that the rights of slaves should be ensured along with other rights. It has been said that there is no difference between human beings. Everyone is equal. He said that non-Arabs are not s uperior to any Arab. There is no non-Arab dominance. * White people do not predominate over black people. This trend continued after the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him). * For example, Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra)In his first speech, he said, “If I am on the right path, you will help and support me, and if I go astray, you will guide me.”
Even during the caliphate of Hazrat Omar (ra) every man and woman was guaranteed full civil rights. They could present their own views, complaints, alternative proposals, etc. on governance.* Human dignity will not be determined by any caste. Rather, reliance on Allah or taqwa will determine one’s dignity. As stated in the Qur’an: “The most honorable among you in the sight of Allah are those who fear Him.” ..Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And whoever kills unjustly, let him kill all the people.” The hadeeth says: “Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day,
Do not hurt the neighbors. ‘Even during the war, the opposition has spoken of treating women, children, the elderly and prisoners of war well. Will not exist.
