Bangladesh’s rural communities are benefiting from safe drinking water and electricity supplied by mobile tower company edotco Bangladesh as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which were unveiled on Saturday, said a press release.
With the “Tower to Power” project, which was launched in 2016, edotco Bangladesh was able to connect its solar-powered sites to supply electricity to nearby rural communities in Nijhum Dwip, Shibpur, Nazirpur and Kuakata.
The company was also successful in providing clean and safe drinking water to the villagers in Jadur Haat, Nilphamari with the installation of solar-powered water pumps last year.
edotco has already implemented their “Tower to Power” project, providing electricity to over 110 families, schools and mosques. They plan to extend this facility to over 1,000 families by end of 2018.
In the launching ceremony, Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Shyam Sundar Sikder said: “edotco Bangladesh has undertaken a great initiative in community enrichment. Their initiatives will have a significant positive impact on the lives of these communities living in remote areas. Other companies in the telecoms sector should come forward with such activities.”
Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood said: “edotco Bangladesh’s initiatives have touched communities across the country, enabling them to function and live better lives.
