The Education Ministry and the Primary and Mass Education Ministry have virtually failed to check the question papers leakage from Class II to university admission tests due to moral degradation.
The ministries are also trying to escape their responsibility blaming the teachers for leaking the question papers without taking any fruitful measurers to check.
Professor Syed Anwar Hossain of Dhaka University’s History Department told The New Nation, “The ministries cannot avoid their responsibility. It is clear that they have already failed to check the question paper leakage.”
He suggested the ministries to take proper steps to stop the question papers leakage permanently. “Please don’t blame the teachers. Take action whoever is involved in the incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing
Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry Motahar Hossain said, neither the government nor the respective committee or the respective ministry is responsible for leak of the question papers of Class one to four.
“We do not know how or what is the reason behind the question paper leak of Class I to IV. However, we have instructed the respective authorities to identify the reasons and persons behind the question paper leak,” Motahar Hossain said at a press conference at the Jatiya Sangsad media center.
The chief of the Parliamentary Watchdog was briefing the reporters after a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Primary and Mass Education.
He said, the primary and the mass education ministry do not prepare question papers of class one to four.
It is the teachers’ association which prepares the question and therefore the government is in no way responsible for the question paper leak, Motahar said.
AKM Jahangir Hossain, a member of the parliamentary standing committee on primary and mass education, said when he sat for the SSC examination in 1965, there was question paper leak even at that time. Therefore, question paper leak is nothing new, he added.
On Sunday Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid accused some immoral teachers of leaking question papers.
“There were many suggestions to stop question paper leak. Many suggested for printing question paper in every exam halls half an hour before initiating examination. But when we realised that the teachers are behind the question paper leak, there was no benefit,” said the minister in a joint meeting with the officials of Anti-Corruption Commission at the Secretariat.
“We are supposed to feel secured when we hand over questions to the teachers. But, some teachers leak questions just after receiving it. A decision has been taken for entry of examinees half an hour before exam starts. The envelope of question paper will be opened after the student’s entry,” Nahid said.
The minister said that the main problem of our present education system is that teachers do not teach well in the classrooms to run their coaching business.
“The government has already finalised education Act. We will be able to stop coaching business after implementing the Act,” said Nahid.
He also said that the Education ministry will work together with the ACC to solve problems in the education sector.
