Editors’ Council for joint efforts to tackle current crisis

Expressing grave concern over the Gulshan and Sholakia attacks, Editors’ Council on Wednesday called for taking concerted efforts to face the current crisis.
The call came from a meeting of the council held at
The Daily Star office with its president Golam Sarwar in the chair, said a press release. In a resolution adopted at the meeting, the council noted with concern that a recreational communal evil force is involved in a deep-rooted conspiracy to destabilise the beloved motherland achieved at the cost of lakhs of lives. Their main motive is to send out a wrong message to the world creating an anarchic situation in the country through killing innocent people brutally, it said.
The council underscored the need for creating familial, social and cultural awareness alongside law enforcement agencies’ stringent steps to overcome the situation. It also expressed its sympathy to the families of those killed in the attacks on Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan and police at Sholakia in Kishoreganj.
