Engineering Dimension International Investment LLC (EDII), a Saudi-based cement maker, opened its Dhaka office on Wednesday.
Saudi Ambassador in Dhaka Essa Yusuf Essa Al Dulaihan was present as chief guest while Sirazul Islam, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Shibnath Roy, Additional Secretary of Industries Ministry, among others, were present.
Engineering Dimension International Investment LLC (EDII) of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) jointly set-up an Integrated Clinker and Cement Plant in Bangladesh.
As part it, EDII inaugurated its Dhaka office at 32, Gulshan Avenue with the approval of BIDA.
All the distinguished guests prayed for the successful and speedy implementation of this initiative which will encourage other Saudi Investors to invest further in Bangladesh.
The project will cater to the demand of the clinker based cement factories in Bangladesh by supplying four million tons of clinker per annum against the country’s import of nineteen million tons per annum and save net foreign exchange of $225 million annually.
The project will also create huge employment opportunities. The Total Investment in the project has been estimated at about US$ 450 million equivalent of TK 4000 crore. This Project will be a Major milestone in Saudi Arabia & Bangladesh Investment initiatives.
