A student of Eden Mohila College allegedly committed suicide by hanging with a ceiling fan in their residence at South Banasri in the capital on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Mehzabin Islam Sania, 24, a Masters student of Finance and Banking Department at Eden Mohila College. She was daughter of one Rafiqul Islam, a grocery shopkeeper, hailed from Chandpur sadar upazila, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.
He said Rafqul had a quarrel with his daughter in the morning and came to his grocery shop. Family members found her body hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at around 12:15pm, the said. Later, she was rushed to DMCH where on-duty doctors declared her dead at around 1:30pm, the SI said.
The body was kept in the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, he added.
