The Department of Urban Development, in association with the ministry of housing, is planning to develop an economic hub in Jessore through a project entitled preparation of development plan for Benapole – Jessore Highway corridor.
The plan includes a 4-lane highway along with two service ways, export processing zones at Benapole and Jhikargachha and urban development.
The information was revealed at a seminar on Benapole – Jessore Highway corridor held at Jessore Collectorate Conference Room on Sunday noon.
Dr Humayun Kabir, deputy commissioner, Jessore was the chief guest in the seminar. Dr Ahsanul Kabir, Professor , Khulna University and also transport planning expert, urban development department, presented the keynote paper in the seminar.
