Eco-tourism parks to be ready by next year: BEZA

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has urged the businesspeople to invest in the three eco-tourism parks-Naf, Sabrang and Sonadia which are expected to be ready for tourists by next year.
“Tourism business will be flourished in the country if this sector gets tax holiday. I hope that BEZA will be able to attract foreign investors for these three eco-tourism parks which are expected to be completed by next one year,” housing and public works minister Engineer Mosharraf Hosaain told a seminar at Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
BEZA organised the seminar on ‘exploring investment opportunities: specialized tourism parks in Cox’s Bazar’ with its executive chairman Paban Chowdhury in the chair, said a press release.
Cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam, principal coordinator (SDGs affairs of Prime Minister’s Office) Md Abul Kalam Azad, secretary of housing and public works ministry Md Shahid Ullah Khandker and president of FBCCI Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, among others, spoke.
Paban Chowdhury said private entrepreneurs can invest in these three eco-tourism parks as such investment is needed to attract tourists from home and abroad. These three parks will create economic activities worth $2.0 billion annually and generate jobs for 200,000 people, he added.
Mohammad Shafiul Alam said tourists will be encouraged to visit these parks when the area will be connected with train service.
Abul Kalam Azad said these three eco-tourism parks will play a vital role in building a developed Bangladesh as it will create huge jobs. Such planned tourism destinations will attack huge tourists from home and abroad, he added.
