ECNEC okays 11 projects with Tk 3,684 cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved 11 projects involving a total of Tk 3,684.50 crore.
The approval was given in the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Of Tk 3,684.50 crore, the government will provide Tk 2,641.99 crore, organizations concerned will give Tk 66.43 crore from their own funds and Tk 954.08 crore will come from foreign assistance.
Planning minister SHM Mustafa Kamal briefed reporters after the meeting.
Kamal said the present government held 100 meetings after coming to power for the second consecutive term and 733 projects were given approval involving a total of Tk 7,63 309 crore.
He said 5,000 CCTV cameras will be installed in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to check crimes and traffic jam.
The approved projects include Bangladesh regional weather and climate service project (Tk 979.98 crore), Alikadam-Jalanipara-Karukpata-Poamuhuri road construction project (Tk 374.01 crore), Gopalganj and Bagerhat Paurashava water supply and environmental sanitation development project (Tk 165.19 crore), road expansion from court to Rajshahi bypass road (Tk 106.58 crore) and greater Noakhali palli abokathamo unnayan-2 (revised) (Tk 592.69 crore).
The remaining projects envisage further development of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Tk 340.13 crore), project for increasing the earnings of women at upazila level (Tk 250.56 crore), Bangladesh Textile University’s Development (1st revised) project (Tk 183.65 crore), establishment of Dhaka Technical Teachers’ Training Institute project (TK 86 crore), construction of military police centre and school in Savar cantonment (Tk 163.57 crore), and installation of LED road lights, CCTVs and setting up cameras and CCTV control tower in DNCC (Tk 442.14 crore).
