The ECNEC is likely to approve the “Different Vessels Building Project for Coast Guard” tomorrow. The project is a part of the government initiatives to boost the country’s maritime security, said an official of the Planning ministry to BSS today.
Under the project, the Coast Guard will build its necessary equipment including two inshore patrol vessels, two tugs and 10 high speed vessels to check all sorts of smuggling including narcotics, arms and human trafficking, he said.
The project is estimated to cost Taka 445.42 crore and will be implemented from government fund by June 2019, the official added.
