The Election Commission (EC) has said that it would not cancel nomination papers for silly mistakes, which can be easily corrected by the candidates.
In Circular-2 published yesterday, the EC directed officials to invite the probable candidate for correction instantly if any silly mistake is detected during scrutiny.
But altering or amendment to any information placed in the Affidavit shall not be accepted, the EC said in the circular.
According to EC directive, a candidate can submit multiple nomination papers. Only one found valid among them will be accepted and others will be considered canceled automatically.
The EC says concerned Returning Officer (RO) shall comment on specific space in the nomination paper about accepting or rejecting it.
According to the election schedule, the last date of submitting nomination papers is November 19. The EC would perform scrutiny on November 22.
The EC said candidates will get three days to place any complaint after scrutiny. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 29. The EC will allocate election symbols on November 30.
