EC wants to repress BNP with police: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday said in a press briefing that the Election Commission and police officials have made understanding to repress the BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront.
“The EC and police officials have held a meeting to chalk out a grand plan to repress BNP and Oikyafront leaders and activists ahead of the 11th Parliamentary polls,” Rizvi said at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
He said that filing of fictitious cases is continuing uninterruptedly though the police  
commissioner said that no more fictitious cases will be filed after the announcement of the polls schedule.
The BNP leader said, the Bangladesh Associations of Banks asked it member banks to provide about Tk 100 crore’s blankets within December 12.
“The sample of those blankets will be sent to the Prime Minister’s relief store on November 27. And then, the old banks asked to provide 50 thousand blankets and new ones 15 thousand blankets within next 15 days,” Rizvi said.
“The collection of those blankets in the name of Prime Minister’s relief fund in this time is totally violation of election code,” he said.
He said that the electioneering has yet to begin, the AL leaders have launched their campaign in full swing using loudspeakers. But BNP leaders cannot hold meetings even inside their residence.
