UNB, Dhaka :
The Election Commission has started publishing municipal election results in official gazettes as it already sent polls results of 11 districts to the press.
“We sent the results of 11 districts to the press on Wednesday and will send the remaining ones soon,” said an official at the Election Commission Secretariat preferring anonymity.
The press will have to print the gazettes within five working days after the election results are sent, he added.
The 11 districts are Panchagar, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Chapainawabganj, Chuadanga, Barguna, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Chittagong and Rangamati. The election results will become official with publishing of those in the gazettes.
Meanwhile, the Commission has already formed election and appeal tribunals in every district so that any aggrieved person can seek remedy to reported anomalies during the December-30 election, held in 233 municipalities across the country. In case of election anomaly, the aggrieved person is allowed to file complaint with the election tribunal, led by a joint district judge, within 30 days after the election results are published in gazettes. And the election tribunal will have to dispose of the complaint within 180 days.
