Election Commission has claimed that the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls has been held in a free, fair and festive manner, except some sort of irregularities.
“The Election Commission is satisfied because an excellent election has been held,” said EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed in its post-polls reaction at the Agargaon
office in Dhaka yesterday evening.
It is true that irregularities took place at three centers out of 289, but above all it was a fantastic election held in a festive atmosphere, the EC secretary said.
Responding to a query about the BNP’s allegation of vote rigging, Helaluddin said that the Commission through its field level officials monitored the voting closely and found irregularities in few polling centres only.
When asked about the impact of the KCC polls on the national election, the EC secretary said, “All eyes at present are on the Khulna City polls. It’s a local body polls and the Commission is satisfied at the voting so far.”
The Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners were present at the meeting on the occasion, he added.
