UNB, Dhaka :
Election Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mobarak, who is now performing the duties of the Chief Election Commissioner, received a death threat on his cell phone on Sunday.
According to an Election Commissioner, Mobarak got the life threat at 12.10 pm from a hidden cellphone number while he was talking to three other election commissioners -Abu Hafiz, Shah Nawaz and Zabed Ali -at his Election Commission Secretariat office.
As Mobarak attended the call, the anonymous caller said, “I’m your assassin.
Your time (age) has been set. Your wife will soon turn widow and your children orphans.”
Mobarak, who drew flak for his recent remarks against BNP, right away shared the matter with the other commissioners, who suggested him to file a general diary in this regard.
Meanwhile, his personal secretary, Alamgir Hossain, was asked to lodge a GD with Sher-e Bangla Nagar Police Station in this connection.
On March 30, Mobarak said BNP joined the upazila polls under the incumbent Election Commission after having its nose rubbed in the dirt.
