The Election Commission (EC) has invited some 60 members of the civil society to join the electoral dialogue with the commission to be held on July 31.
The number of the civil individuals may rise.
Muhammad Abdullah, Secretary of the Election Commission, came up with the disclosure while talking to the reporters at EC Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday afternoon.
He said, “We invited the civil society members for the dialogue. The letters in this regard have already been issued. They will receive letters in one or two days.”
When asked about the civil individuals invited, he said former advisers to the caretaker governments, educationists, social activists, columnists, media personalities, renowned personalities and economists have been chosen for the talks who have long experience in field-level working.
In reply to a query over the agenda of the talks, he said, “There is no specific agenda. The discussion is open and the invitees can talk on any issue relating to election.”
The talks will be held at 11:00am at the Election Commission secretariat.
