Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) has recently signed an agreement with SME Foundation (SMEF) to receive Tk 50 million for financing footwear and leather goods manufacturing industries in different areas of the country.
EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar and SME Foundation Managing Director Md. Shafiqul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Among others EBL Head of SME Md. Khurshed Alam, Head of Business, Anwar Faruq Talukder, General Manager, Shaheen Anwar, SMEF DGM Nazeem H Satter were present on the occasion.
The loan will be disbursed under the banner of “EBL Udoy” which is designed for the development of footwear and leather goods manufacturing industries.Under the scheme SME entrepreneur will get loan from Tk 1(one) lac to 10(ten) lac for the period of six months to three years.
The objective of this programme is to ensure the access to credits for the eligible and potential micro and small entrepreneurs of Leather Tanning, Footwear Production and Leather Products.
The scheme will put special focus on Bhairab Shoe Cluster, Brahmanbaria Shoe Cluster, Hazaribag Tannery Cluster, Chittagong Shoe cluster and other promising leather products cluster around the country.
