Easy win for Khulna Tigers in BBPL

Khulna Tigers posted an easy 34-run win over Cumilla Warriors in the Twenty20 cricket match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
After yesterday’s outcome, Khulna Tigers grabbed 12 points from 10 matches, while Cumilla Warriors earned 10 points from 11 matches.
Sent into bat first, Khulna Tigers piled up a huge 179 for the loss of two wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then all out Cumilla Warriors for 145 off 18.2 overs.
Khulna Tigers made an auspicious start as openers Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz put on together 71 runs in the opening stand before Shanto was caught by Sunzamul Islam off Soumya Sarkar.
Shanto made 38 from 29 balls featuring four fours and a sixer.
After dismissal of Shanto, Miraz could stay at the crease for a short time as he was bowled out by David Wiese when Khulna’s total was 94 for the loss of two wickets.
Miraz hit run-a-ball 39 including two fours and two sixes.
Then Rilee Rossouw and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed together 85 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership.
Rossouw remained unbeaten with 71. He hit four sixes and six fours in his 36-ball hurricane innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 24. His 17-ball knock saw two fours.
Soumya Sarkar and David Wiese took one wicket apiece.
Later, Robbie Frylinck of Khulna Tigers bowled extremely well. He captured five wickets at the cost of 16 runs. Frylinck was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific bowling performance.
Mohammad Amir and Shahidul Islam bagged a pair of wickets each for 18 and 34 runs respectively.
Opener Sabbir Rahman of Cumilla Warriors fought back against the controlled bowling attack of Khulna Tigers.
Sabbir hammered a typhoon 62. His 39-ball innings saw seven fours and two sixes.
Besides, Yasir Ali and Soumya Sarkar made notable 27 and 22 runs respectively.
