Dhaka Dynamites posted an easy 43-run victory over Rangpur Riders in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Dhaka Dynamites gained 15 points from 12 matches, while Rangpur Riders earned 12 points from as many outings.
Electing to bat first, Dhaka Dynamites made a fighting total of 137 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they restricted Rangpur Riders to 94 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites faced a disaster as they lost five wickets for 48 runs.
Then Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Maruf salvaged their team from danger contributing together 55 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Mehedi Maruf was caught at the deep square leg by Nahidul Islam off Rubel Hossain when Dhaka’s total was 103 for the loss of six wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 47. His 33-ball wonderful innings was studded with two sixes and two fours.
Mehedi Maruf hit a polished 33. His 23-ball knock was belted with three fours and a sixer.
Rubel Hossain and Ebadat Hossain bagged a couple of wickets each for 32 and 37 runs respectively.
Besides, Nahidul Islam, Samuel Badree and Abdur Razzak Raj took one wicket apiece.
Later, batsmen of Rangpur Riders failed to build any notable partnership against the tight and controlled bowling attack of Dhaka Dynamites.
Ravi Bopara and Johnson Charles of Rangpur Riders fought back making 28 (not out) and 26 runs respectively.
Bopara hit one four and one six in his 30-ball innings, while Johnson Charles hit two sixes in his 30-ball knock.
Shakib Al Hasan and Abu Hider bagged a pair of wickets each at the cost of 13 and 23 runs respectively.
Besides, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Amir and Sunil Narine took one wicket each for 13, 15 and 18 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan of Dhaka Dynamites was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
