Bangladesh Premier League: Easy win for Comilla Victorians

Comilla Victorians posted an easy five-wicket victory over Khulna Titans in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Batting first Khulna Titans made 141 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Comilla Victorians romped home scoring 142 for the loss of five wickets when they had eight balls to spare. Comilla Victorians had a sorrow start as opener Ahmed Shehzad (0) was caught at the mid-off by Mahmudullah Riyad off Junaid Khan when Comilla’s score was just one.
Then Marlon Samuels and Imrul Kayes repaired the early damage contributing together 49 runs for the second wicket partnership before Imrul Kayes was caught at the long-on by Shuvagata Hom off Shafiul Islam when Comilla’s total was 50 for the loss of two wickets.
Marlon Samuels remained unbeaten with 69. His 57-ball match-winning innings was ornamented with eight fours. Marlon Samuels was adjudged the Man of the Match.
At one stage, Comlilla’s score was 100 for the loss of five wickets.
Samuels and Liton Das salvaged their team from danger adding together 42 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket stand and helped their team to reach the winning spot.
Liton Das remained unbeaten with 24. He hit five fours in his 11-ball innings. Besides, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Imrul Kayes added 20 runs each to the Comilla total.
Benny Howell of Khulna Titans bagged a couple of wickets at the cost of 25 runs, while Mosharraf Hossain, Junaid Khan, Shafiul Islam took one wicket each for 21, 24 and 46 runs respectively.
Khulna Titans had a shaky start as their opener Riki Wessels (4) was bowled out by Mohammad Sharif when Khulna’s total was just eight.
Then Hasanuzzaman and Abdul Mazid contributed together 30 runs for the second wicket partnership before Abdul Mazid (18) was bowled out by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when Khulna’s score was 38 for the loss of one two wickets.
Later, Khulna batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten with 40. His 38-ball innings was belted with four fours.
Hasanuzzaman made 29. He hit two fours and a sixer in his 26-ball knock before he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when Khulna’s total was 57 for the loss of three wickets.
In-form Nicholas Pooran (14) was caught by Imrul Kayes off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when Khulna’s score was 81 for the loss of four wickets.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza grabbed three wickets at the cost of 16 runs.
Besides, Mohammad Sharif, Mahammad Saifuddin, Rashid Khan got one wicket each conceding 27, 31 and 33 runs respectively. 0 pt
