Chattogram Challengers posted an easy six-wicket victory over Rangpur Rangers in their Twenty20 cricket match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday.
Chasing Rangpur Rangers’ 157 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs, Chattogram Challengers coasted home making 158 for the loss four wickets when they had 10 balls to spare.
Opener Chadwick Walton of Chattogram Challengers notched up an exact 50. He hit three sixes and four fours in his 34-ball innings.
One-down Imrul Kayes remained unbeaten with 44. His 33-ball sparkle innings was decorated with three fours and two sixes.
Avishka Fernando made a worthy 37. His 23-ball knock had three sixes and two fours.
Mahmudullah Riyad added 15 runs to the Chattogram total.
Lewis Gregory of Rangpur Rangers claimed two wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while TB Abell and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket each for 11 and 30 runs respectively.
Earlier, Mohammad Naim of Rangpur Rangers struck a windy 78. His 54-ball innings was belted with three sixes and six fours.
Mohammad Nabi hit a fine 21. His 12-ball innings saw one four and one six.
Besides, Taskin Ahmed, Lewis Gregory and TB Abell scored 11(not out), 11 and ten runs respectively.
Kesrick Williams of Chattogram Challengers bagged a pair of wickets conceding 35 runs.
Mahmudullah Riyad, RP Burl, Rubel Hossain and Mehedi Hasan Rana took one wicket each for 17, 24, 32 and 33 runs respectively.
Mohammad Naim of Rangpur Rangers was adjudged the Man of the Match for his batting performance.
