Barisal Bulls composed an easy six-wicket win over Comilla Victorians in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Electing to bat first, Comilla Victorians scored 129 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Barisal Bulls sailed home making 130 for the loss of four wickets remaining with nine balls.
Barisal Bulls had a disastrous start as they lost their early three wickets for 69 runs.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Thisara Perera repaired the damage contributing together 49 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught at the third-man by Liton Das off Sohail Tanvir when Baisal’s total was 118 for the loss of four wickets.
Thisara Perera remained unbeaten with 34. His 20-ball innings was decorated with three fours and a sixer. Perera was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mushfiqur Rahim hit a fine 33 from 23 balls including two sixes and two fours.
Opener Dilshan Munaweera (15) of Barisal Bulls was caught at the long-off by Marlon Samuels off Imad Wasim when Barisal’s score was 19.
Then Shamsur Rahman (16), the other opener of Barisal was caught at the long-on by Imad Wasim off Nabil Samad when Barisal’s total was 48 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Dawid Malan (26) was caught by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza off Mohammad Sharif when Barisal’s total was 69 for the loss of three wickets.
Nabil Samad, Sohail Tanvir, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Sharif took one wicket apiece.
Comilla Victorians faced a batting jolt as they lost their first six wickets for 73 runs.
Then Marlon Samuels and Sohail Tanvir built a worthy partnership. They contributed 38 runs for the seventh wicket stand before Marlon Samuels was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Al-Amin Hossain off Rayad Emrit when Comilla’s total was 111 for the loss of seven wickets.
Samuels hit a run-a-ball 48 featuring five fours.
Sohail Tanvir remained unbeaten with 30. His 19-ball innings was studded with three sixes.
Earlier, Taijul Islam off Barisal Bulls gave his team early breakthrough as opener Imrul Kayes (0) was bowled out by Taijul Islam when Comilla failed to open their account.
Khalid Latif (12), the other opener of Comilla was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Abu Hider when Comilla’s total was 25 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Nazmul Hossain Shanto (16) was run out by Shamsur Rahman when Comilla’s score was 49 for the loss of three wickets.
Then Liton Das (4) was caught & bowled by Al-Amin Hossain when Comilla’s total was 57 for the loss of four wickets.
Fourth-down Imad Wasim (1) was run out by Shamsur Rahman when Comilla’s score was 66 for the loss of five wickets.
After dismissal of Wasim, Nahidul Islam (4) was caught at the mid-wicket by Abu Hider off Thisara Perera when Comilla’s total was 73 for the loss of six wickets.
