Easy ponytail ideas for winter

Life Desk :
Spoiler alert: There are a lot of flat hair days coming for you between now and spring. Winter’s relative lack of humidity will do that to a girl. And as much as we swear by a good volumizing product, in very cold weather, these can sometimes encourage static, creating another seasonal challenge to having good hair.
Enter the ponytail – but not just your trusty old version. A basic ponytail always works, but wearing one over and over (and over) can start to make your beauty routine feel a little stale, especially during an already dark and dreary time of year. To mix up our pony repertoire, let’s look to the runways for some fresh inspiration-of which there’s been plenty recently. Here are some backstage shots we captured of the most intriguing new ponytail hairstyle ideas:
Create a rope pony by dividing and twisting the tail, as seen on models at the Public School show. The inspiration for the collection was world-traveling women, and Allen Ruiz, Aveda’s global artistic director, envisioned these sturdy ponies fending off high winds, finishing them with styling cream and hairspray to lock down flyaways. Sounds like winter hair to us.
Braid your ‘tail and rock an old-school pigtail, as seen at Proenza Schouler-yes, just like you did in grade school. Totally chic again. And as easy as it ever was: Just make a low pony, tightly braid the tail, then secure as far down as possible for maximum braid length.
Add a black ribbon, as seen at Paul & Joe. It’s a simple flourish we’ve seen pop up during Fashion Week and on celebrities recently; the black keeps it feeling Parisian rather than juvenile. Do a thinner one if you’re feeling ribbon-shy at first.
Try a low-pony twist, as seen on this model backstage at the Aquilano Rimondi show. Twirl the sides and pin right above where you secure your hair at the nape of your neck, then after your pony’s in place, wrap a section around the base and pin, to hide your elastic and add polish.
Lose the tail entirely. We think of this hairstyle from Altuzarra as a ponytail alternative that plays off the previous idea; because the sides are twirled back, your roots are kept intentionally flat, as they would be with a pony. But your ends can hang loose. Just be prepared to combat static (stashing a couple dryer sheets in your handbag = never a bad idea this time of year). -From Internet
