Vice Chancellor of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University Dr. Prof. AS Mahfuzul Bari said the death rate of dog bite disease(Ravis) can be brought in zero percent if the aware ness of the availability of ARV(anti-ravis vaccine) is apprised to common people of the society.
Moreover the easy availability of the ARV should be ensured at all upazila levels as well as urban areas, he added.
He disclosed it while addressing the World Ravis Day arranged at the university premises jointly organized by the University and Livestock Deptt on Sunday as chief guest.
He said Livestock Deptt and the Health Directorate should work jointly to increase the awareness about ARV among the people in rural areas aimed at to reduce the d eath rate from this deadly disease. Deputy Director of Livestock Deptt, Chittagong Shambu Kumar Chakraborty presided over the discussion meeting on World Ravis Day
Among others Dean of Veternary Medicine Faculty of Animal University Dr. Kabirul Islam Khan, former Dean Dr. AKM Saifuddin, Research Director Md.Junaid Siddiqui, Head of Microbiology Deptt Dr. Abdul Ahad and Dairy Farm Association President Rabibur Rahman Tutul , General Secretary Md. Omar, and the Asstt director of Breeding Centre of Livestock Deptt Dr.Farhad Hossain spoke on the occasion.
