Education and Development Foundation – Educo, a global development and humanitarian action NGO in association with IPDC Finance Limited, the first private financial institution of Bangladesh established in 1981, recently held a two days training on earthquake and fire incidence preparedness at Educo School, Nayanagar, Dhaka. The training was designed to prepare students, youth, teachers and school management committee members to design action plans to handle earthquake and fire incidences.
The training was attended by 25 participants, most of them being school going students. Facilitators at the training explained the steps needed to be taken before, during and after each quack and fire incidence at school level. Mahadi Hasan Millon, DRR Specialist from Educo Bangladesh gave a video presentation on reasons of earthquake, earthquake status of Bangladesh and preventive measures especially at the school level. Five representatives of Bangladesh Fire Service gave presentation and demonstration on fire hazards and preventive measures. On behalf of Educo, Emamul Hoque, Director of Resource Mobilization and Visibility; Sabrina Shahab, Resource Mobilization Manager and Abdul Mannan, Communication Manager were present at the training.
Mahzabin Ferdous, Head of Brand and Corporate Communication, IPDC Finance Ltd said, “It’s our pleasure to be associated with this awareness program. This sort of trainings will play a significant role for underprivileged children living in congested areas with high risk of fire hazards and earthquakes. IPDC always makes it a point to be involved with initiatives that promote social good. This training is a part of that effort.”
