The growers of early varieties of winter vegetables in the district are overjoyed as they are getting good yield of their produce this year.
With the hope to earn handsome profit farmers of different upazilas under the district cultivated different varieties of early winter vegetable with much enthusiasm and vigor this season. They have already witnessed a good output of their produce and also earned satisfactory profit as well, sources said.
Visiting different areas of the district it was found the farmers busy taking care of their vegetable fields. Many were busy harvesting their produce.The farmers are growing cauliflower, cabbage, bean, eggplant, gourd, cucumber, tomato, carrot, radish, etc.
Vobendo Sarker, a vegetable cultivator of Paschim Mandrain village under Gangachara upazila said he has already earned Tk 10,000 by growing radish on 30 decimals of land.
Everyday a good number of trucks laden with vegetables leave the markets of the region for different destinations across the country, sources said.
