Ignoring Government ban on early marriage, an early marriage of a girl of class viii was allegedly solemnised through video calls with a young man working in Oman on Thursday afternoon at Dakhshin Bari village in Ward No 9 of Chandra union under Chandpur Sadar Upazila.
Local villagers termed it a ‘digital marriage’ through video calls. The marriage was solemnised clandestinely- to the surprise of all!
It was done by assistant Quazi of the union Kazi Saidur Rahman through the local matchmaker Moklesur Rahman. The local Ward member Siddiqur Rahman Bepari was present on the secret occasion.
The minor bride’s name is Tania Akter ,(15) of Nagar Beparibari at Ward No 9 Dakhshin Bari village of Chandra union. Tania’s mother gave her own consent to this marriage. Her date of birth was forged and it was shown that she is fit for marriage as per law-said alleged sources.
The bridegroom’s name is Al- Amin,25, employed in Oman for the last eight years, son of Badsha Miaji of Chowkiderbari at Chandra Chowrasta area under Chandpur Sadar.
Regarding this marriage, when contacted, the local UP Chairman Khan Jahan Ali Kalu has told this correspondent that it might have happened secretly. So please inform the matter to the UNO Sadar , Kanij Fatema. She will do the needful in this regard as per law.
