Early Eid shopping gains momentum in Rangpur

The people have already started early Eid shopping despite higher prices of Eid items, including clothes, much ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity to avoid abnormal rush at the last moment in the city markets.
According to the market sources and local observers, Eid shopping in all markets, shopping malls, complexes and makeshift wayside markets marks huge sales amid tight security measures in the divisional city.
Hundreds of men, women, housewives, students, girls, boys, youths and adolescents have been buying Eid items on their own choices from the markets and their movements have been creating huge traffic jam since 10:30 am daily in the city.
Huge number of buyers is thronging the Super Market, Zila Parishad Community Market, Salek Market, New Market, Jahaz Company Shopping Complex, City Plaza, Moti Plaza, Adi Janata, Bismillah Garments, Madina Garments, Maya Exclusive Faison House, Rangoon and other aristocrat markets and shopping malls in the city.
The female students, young girls and adolescents are mostly purchasing three pieces of various designs like’Tumili’, ‘Chhanchhan’, ‘Ranjona’, Anar Koli’, ‘Jhilik-2’, ‘Khushi’, ‘Jibika’, Discochally’, ‘Chhammakchhalla’, ‘Ulalla’, ‘Agnikonnya’, ‘Soti’, ‘Aksara’, ‘Heroin’, ‘Murder-3’, ‘Chennai’, ‘Sonakshi’ and many others at higher rates than last year.
Talking to BSS this noon at different city markets, traders said the buyers are purchasing goods of their own choice despite higher prices of clothes for male, female, babies and children this time than the previous years.
A number of shop owners and businessmen said the sale of Eid items is relatively higher this year, even three week ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, because huge positive change in the economic condition of the common people in recent years.
Talking to BSS, couple Azmeri Rahman and Aminur Rahman, university students Neleema Akhter, Aduri Begum and Nuzhat Farzana at Rangpur Super Market said prices of clothes for people of all ages are much higher this year compared to last year.
According to the market sources, sales of shoes and cosmetics have also increased substantially right now at the shops, shopping malls and markets and the same will further increase in the last week of Eid shopping.
Police sources informed that adequate security measures, including launching of special traffic movement, have been taken to enable the rushing people to buy their Eid items in hassle-free and peaceful atmosphere and that no untoward incident has been reported so far.
Members of the law enforcing and intelligence agencies both in uniforms and plain clothes have been patrolling the markets, road traffic and other important places to stop all sorts of mugging, burglary, extortion and other crimes through stronger vigilance.
