Cumilla brick kiln incident: Each victim’s family to get Tk 1 lakh

The government will provide Tk one lakh to each of the families of the brick kiln workers killed by a coal-laden truck in Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla district.
Besides, the relatives of the injured men will get Tk 50,000 each, said Akhterul Islam, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Saturday morning.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Munnujan Sufian disclosed about the providing the compensation from Labour Welfare Fund, Akhterul said.
The crimination of the victims were completed on Saturday morning, reports our correspondent quoting Ashraful Islam Khan, neighbor of the victims in Pathanpara village under Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district.
Meanwhile, a case was filed against the driver and helper of the truck that overturned and crushed the sleeping workers.
Sanjit Chandra Roy, brother of one of the 13 victims Ranjit Chandra Roy, filed the case with Chouddagram Police Station on Friday night.
However, both the accused remain unnamed in the case.
Sachi Rani, wife of Ranjit Roy of Kurarpar village in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari, seems to have lost her strength to cry further.
