E-token system to go: Shringla Indian visa centre opens in Jessore

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday said the prevailing appointment system which is well known as e – token will goo soon. Khulna- Kotkata rail route is underway for commuters, too.
The high commissioner was speaking at the opening ceremony of Indian visa application centre at 91 Brinda, Narail Road in Jessore town on Wednesday evening.
The opening session was attended among others by lawmakers Kazi Nabil Ahemd, Monirul Islam and Swapaon Bhattachariya, Ranjan Kumar Mondol, first secretary, press, Indian high commission, Dhaka, Dr Humayun Kabir, deputy commissioner, Jessore, Anisur Rahman, superintendent of police, Jessore, Sujit Kumar Bharma, chief general manager, international banking, State Bank of India, Mumbai and Abhijit Chakravorty, country, State Bank of India, Bangladesh operations.
The high commissioner, in his speech, said Jessore is the 12th visa centre in Bangladesh. There are highest numbers of visa centres in Bangladesh comparing to other countries in the world. This is only a testimony of to the strong bonds of friendship between India and Bangladesh.
‘Last year, in 2016, we issued close to 1 million visas to Bangladesh nationals which is a record,’ Shringla added
