Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said e-tendering system will be carried for procurements of the ministry with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability. “All procurements of CMSD and various departments of the health ministry, institute, medical college, general hospital, and district sadar hospital will now be done through e-tender,” he told journalists at a press conference on Thursday at Bangladesh Secretariat office.
The minister, also senior Awami League leader, said the decision has taken to establish transparency and accountability for ministry’s business affairs as the e-tender system would ease the day’s function. Nasim said the contractors will be able to complete all activities related to public accounts affairs at home and simultaneously the tender-process including proposal, bidding and other related activities would be easy and smooth.
The online tendering launched in Bangladesh with the financial support of the World Bank on July in 2004. Later
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated “The e-Government Procurement Web Portal” on June 2 in 2011.
